Freddys Back: Will You Be?

A Nightmare on Elm Street Movie Reviews, Pictures - Rotten Tomatoes You heard all before right, 1, 2...Freddys coming for you…3, 4…you better lock your, ahhh the heck with it. You know where I am going with this. Well tonight Freddy is back, by less than popular demand at a local theater near you. The Nightmare on Elm Street franchise has completely been rebooted and this time around a new actor named Jackie Earle Haley, stars as the psycho slasher who loves to terrorize teenagers wearing the traditional red and green striped sweater.

The heavily marketed film has already been over saturated to death through advertising on the television, as well as, over the internet, to remind you, just in case you forgot that this bomb, whoops sorry, this highly anticipated reboot is back and ready to bring back it’s 80’s glory days. Usually when this happens, it means the film isn’t very good to start with, but the people who spent tons of money making this crap, wants to make their money back by manipulating people like you into believing this will be a great date movie or just a fun scary movie. Wrong!

Here is the deal, their goal is to trick, as many people, as possible into seeing their film, especially its opening night and throughout the rest of the weekend, so they can make their money back and get a green light to make a sequel for next year. Also, if the competition is weak at the box office, like it is this weekend, then the excessive marketing alone will crown it as the number one movie at the box office this Monday. It doesn’t matter if the movie is good or not, but as long as they do well in making profits back the first weekend it's out. Don't believe me that this movie is a waste of your hard earned money? Then check out the Rotten Tomatoes's movie reviews and decide for yourself.  Peace Out Home Slice!   ~D.R.

The Facebook Rumor: Will You Have to Pay A Monthly Fee?

Don’t be fooled! I am sure by now; you have heard the rumors about Facebook charging its loyal users starting this summer a monthly fee. The messages have been circulated throughout Facebook, since late December 2009 and haven’t stop sense. I have recently received my own personal invitation to take part in the revolution against Facebook from charging its users, by suggesting that I click on a specific link that will take me to a site to fill out an application that will help prevent FaceBook from moving forward with its master plan. The message informs me that Facebook will begin charging a $3.99 a month fee starting on July 9th, if 9,999,999 users didn’t speak out against Facebook and fill out the application.

But wait a minute! Did Facebook hear the upset voices of their fateful users and decide to change their strategy? Because I remember hearing that Facebook would be charging a $14.99 a month fee starting in June…wait…no, I mean, the fee was going to be at least $50.00 a month, but it would only start on July 8. I don’t know, I’m soooo confused! So which one is correct? The answer is none of them are true. These messages are completely and harmful hoaxes! PAY CLOSE ATTENTION!

Now, this is very important. DO NOT CLICK on any page or messages asking you to fill out an application or COPY and PASTE anything, because they are designed to hijack and take over your computer. For people, who have already clicked on one of these links, have spoken out that their computers were bombarded with a series of highly objectionable images. So while the user is busy playing the "kill the pop-up game," malware software, is being uploading on your computer.

Basically, the protest page was a trap for the unwary individual and has been spreading throughout FaceBook like wildfire by people sending these pages as invitations to their friend and families. So if somebody sends you the “invite”, just delete it immediately!

The truth is that Facebook is not going to start charging their users any fees today or in the near future. Sheryl Sandberg, the company’s chief operating officer, even refuted the issue during an interview in an April 2009 edition of Business week. She said, “The answer is no, we are not planning on charging a basic fee for our basic services. Once again, that question stems from people thinking we're growing so quickly, we're running out of money. We're growing really quickly, but we can finance that growth. We're not going to charge for our basic services.”

Even though it was back in 2009, the company’s decision is still the same. So everybody take a deep breathe and rejoice that your Facebook account and beloved Farmville farms are safe! So lets all go plant our crops as soon as possible!!

3D TVs Dangerous? WorstPreviews.com Houston, Samsung might have a problem. I don't know about you, but I am shocked! I would never have guessed in a million years that staring at the television screen for hours a day and wearing goofy looking glasses would have a negative impact on my life. Would you? I'm speechless. So if you are looking into buying one of those fancy television sets with the 3D capabilities, remember to research it before you buy or you may be really paying for it later.

The Twilight Saga- Eclipse: The Milking of The Franchise Continues

Okay, stop what you are doing right now. Clear your mind, take a deep breathe and sit down because I have some very exciting news for you. Are you excited? Here we go...the new trailer in the stupid, uh I mean very well-refined, Twilight Saga, has hit every media outlook known to man today. If you didn't know, the next installment is titled "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse," and it is slated to released to the public on June 30. So only a matter of months! Wait...did you pass out? Hello...are you there?

Yes, the rumors are true. The overly dramatic and bad acting cast of the beloved trio of Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner (all probably with their shirts off, except for always pale looking Kristen Stewart, who already looks like a vampire and needs a bath) is coming to dominate a box office near you. The movie has already started it's marketing campaign to milk the franchise for all its worth and more. Mainly because it's sole purpose is to advertise towards it's young target audience, which are usually females. Once again, the fanchise is on pace to stir up a frenzy within the hearts of every young girl imaginable and will be felt all over the planet, especially in Hollywood by way of their parent's money. Now I am aware that every fan of the series aren't only female and under the age of eighteen, but just humor me for one second. If news broke today that the movie itself wasn't any good and every teenage girl in the United States alone knew about this information. Do you think it would have any financially effect on the film whatsoever it's opening night or during that June weekend, so to speak? Do you think the studio, who is producing the film, Summit Entertainment, would be shaking in their books? The answer is NO. These guys know the game very well and have done their homework. Trust me, they know what it takes to sell and made buzz around their films, no matter if they are good or not. For me, I just can't see why the attraction is so strong to the film.

For me, I confess, I was forced to watch the last two installments of Twilight. I knew that it was just a vampire and werewolve movie wrapped around a Romeo and Juliet type of forbidden love formula, but still I had to be proven right. But if you think about it, it does gives me more creditability to write about it. So here is what I learned from Twilight that I never knew before. Vampires really like to climb trees and wear glitter body paint so they can be all "shiny," but you can only tell when the sun light hits them just right. Oh yeah, I forgot that werewolves are actually the size of giant boulders. How can I leave that great bit of knowledge out. I just thought they were a little bit bigger than house dogs, not cars. But don't mind me, pleae enjoy the Twilight Saga: Eclipse Trailer below. :)

But can her film can continue to hold off former champ, "How to Train Your Dragon", which is Paramount and DreamWorks's new 3D animation film to claim victory this weekend?

Is American Idol In Trouble?

Do you remember the glory days of American Idol, when you tuned on your television set to see real singers or performers, who were impressive to listen to and watch at the same time? (Please insert Taylor Hicks here) I myself, remember when it felt good to root for your favorite or underdog contestant because you believed they had the potential to be a star, not just the potential to have an overly hyped debut album, that only would guaranteed a top spot on the billboard music charts before fading away into the abyss, after the second of third week. So what's exactly wrong with the all-powerful juggernaut known as American Idol?

This is the American Idol's ninth and last season with popular love him or hate him judge Simon Cowell, who everybody knows is the real reason behind the success of the show. This season, thes like the ones before it, was supposed to highlight American's most talented young music prodigies, but sadly this season has let everyone down. The contestants have struggled, unlike past seasons, to impress their always forgiven television viewing audience this year. Although, American Idol still continues to dominate it’s time slot whenever it is on, most agree that something is missing and the success of the show for the future could be in jeopardy.
For example, last night’s “Song of Inspiration night,” which is a prelude to tonight’s most influential two-hour show of the season, Idol Gives Back, fell flat for the audience across the nation, according to the media critics. Almost every contestants, except for the two front runners- Lee DeWyze and Crystal Bowersox, sung highly dramatized ballads that put people to sleep, rather than giving them inspiration to stick around. I know maybe its just me, but I feel, as soon as, Simon Cowell debuts his highly popular hit singing competition, The X Factor, a United Kingdom success to United Sates in the upoming 2011 season, then American Idol's future could be in serious doubts.

R.I.P Blockbuster and Movie Gallery: Thanks for the Memories!

Can you imagine getting dressed , jumping into your car, and driving a few miles out of your way, late on a Friday evening , all because you wanted to rent a movie you been dying to watch for weeks? Oh wait, I'm not finished. You also have to take that same movie right back to the same place, where you rented it, in one or two days or you will be fined a few dollars extra for a late fee. You see back in the day, there wasn't any on-demand services at your finger tips or any other way you could watch your movie, unless you left your home and drove to your nearby video rental store. These were crazy days right? Well that’s how life as we knew it, before new technology brought Netflix and Redbox into our lives. But before they changed the look and delivery on how we watch our movies today, we had our faithful friends -Blockbuster and Movie Gallery- to satisfy our movie watching appetite

Basically, Blockbuster and Movie Gallery have seen better days in the early and late 90’s but now in 2010, their stores are closing around the United States at an alarming rate. Both former video rental giants have filed for bankruptcy and many are predicting a grim end to American’s former favorite pastime of  movie watching.
Netflix , boasting around 12 million subscribers and over 100,000 movie titles has emerged over the years and is the sole reason for the collapse of Blockbuster and Movie Gallery. Netflix, not only offers their DVD mail-to order option, but also allows their customers to stream video over their televisions, personal computers, and laptops. Redbox on the other hand, is also contributing to the demise with its stand alone red kiosks that only charges their customers $1 to rent their movies. The kiosks can usually be found outside McDonald’s, Walgreens and other stores throughout the eastern part of the United States. Redbox also has a great surplus of movie titles for their customers to pick from, ranging from over 500 million DVDs. Another reason for the fall of Blockbuster and Movie Gallery are those on-demand services I refer to earlier in this article, but thats another story for another day.

My favorite memory of going to Blockbuster and Movie Gallery, consists of late night trips (usually both places in the same night) in search for the latest movie releases, because my dad and I usually stayed up all night watching movie marathon of whatever I brought home for us to watch, which usually was 4-5 movies at a time. Another memory takes me back to those lazy Saturday date nights, where my girlfriendl and  I choose to stay in for the night and rent the weirdest or scariest movie we could find. Although, sometimes in those hecky trips, I would find a “diamond” in the rough movie that was even better than the original movie I intended to rent in the first place. So do you have any fond memories going to Blockbuster or Movie Gallery that you still can cherish? If it wasn't for the Blockbuster and Movie Gallery experience, you probably would have never discovered your favorite movie (that still moves you even today everything you watch it) or even seen some of the worst movies ever made that still makes you ask yourself-"Why did I rent that again?"

Are You A FaceBook Addict?

Its Monday morning, the start of another work week and you find yourself, like you also do, sitting at your computer, trying to motivate yourself, yet again, to embark on another thrill ride of mindless, stress induced work related activities you need to get done by the end of the day or else. You have to make your boss happy, if you want him to continue signing your paychecks. So you chug down your latest energy drink and prepare yourself to be productive. You feel the energy rush throughout your body. You’re motivated, you’re driven, you’re…ON FACEBOOK???

Are you a Facebook addict? Either at the workplace or at home, people have become so obsessed with logging onto their Facebook account, at least every fifteen or twenty minutes out of the day, that it could be a major problem. A number of people have experienced problems in their health, relationships, and careers, because they have dedicated so much of their lives in front of the computer log on to Facebook and have stopped living a normal life. Most people aren’t even aware that frequent visits to your Facebook account can cause something psychologists refer to as intermittent reinforcement. People get an unpredictable high, much like gambling, from the anticipation from being rewarded by notifications, messages, and invites. This can be highly addictive and damaging to one’s life, if not addressed quickly.

Now, I clearly admit I love Facebook, “the place where everybody knows your name and wants to be your friend,” and I am guilty of those frequent visits late at night, when I can’t sleep, just to chat with my other “insomniac” friends or simply to catch up on what’s been going on in the lives of friends I haven’t seen in a very long time. It’s funny now that I think about it, but there has been a few times lately, where I noticed myself logging on to Facebook, without any logical reason why. So maybe I have become a Facebook addict myself. So what about you? Are you a Facebook addict? Are you living more online than you are offline? Well here are five clues that can help you determine if you are a Facebook addict.

The New 3-D Technology- A Gimmick For Ticket Sales?

Okay, you have just walked out of your local movie theater, after forking over a hefty $14.00 or $15.00 a ticket, to witness the newest and greatest movie watching experience known to man today- the new 3-D technology, but there’s one problem. The movie was not very good at all (please insert Clash of the Titans here), especially not for that $14.00 or $15.00 you just lost, I mean gracious donated. That’s not even considering the popcorn with extra butter or the soda you were going to buy, but decided you rathersave your money instead. Hmm…could it be that you paid for a gimmick, rather than an actual good movie?

According to the movie industry, 3-D is the next big thing and its here to stay for a very long time. You have already seen its mighty power through James Cameron’s hugely successful film Avatar, which grossed a staggering global total of $1,8437 billion that sunk Cameron’s other blockbuster, Titantic, becoming the highest grossing film of all time world wide. Critics though pointed out that the reason Avatar was such a global success financially and broke so many records at the box office overall, was due to its overpriced ticket prices because it was shot in 3-D. The average movie ticket rate for your basic 2-D movie now is around $8.00, where the price of admission to watch a movie in glorious 3-D adds 6 or 7 dollars more to the experience. Some feel that if Avatar was shot in regular 2-D, the standard form we have been used to watching our movies, then it probably wouldn’t have been so successful.

In conclusion, the 3-D revolution has staked its claim in Hollywood and isn’t going away anytime soon- gimmick or not. Nearly every film that possesses the blockbuster appeal coming in 2010 has been filmed in 3-D and is looking to score big at the box office in their opening weekend, just off the 3-D technology alone, not the actual movie itself. For example, Jackass, the raunchy stunt/gross-out gags driven franchise with Johnny Knoxville and his band of maniacs has decided to go 3-D as well this fall with Jackass 3D. See my point? The real upcoming potential blockbusters filmed in 3-D this year are Shrek Forever After and Toy Story 3 this summer and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I and Tron Legacy that will round out the fall. So next time you go out to the movies and have to make a decision to watch your movie in standard 2-D or the popular upgraded 3-D experience, I wonder, which one will you choose?

To Eat or Not to Eat?...That is the Question.

So it was around 9 o'clock tonight, when I found myself giving in to my nightly temptation that came in the shape of a slice of Key Lime Pie. I took it out of the fridge, placed in on the closest  plate I could find and immediately took my first bite, without any hesitation. It's sinful taste captivated my tastbuds, as soon as, it entered my mouth. This was the best Key Lime Pie, I have ever tasted!! My fork continued to cut into it's cheamy core again and again, I couldn't stop myself. It was the last piece in the entire house and this little "taste of heaven" was all mine!!

But then, I looked down and noticed something odd in my sugarly goodness. This "something" would not only kill my appetite and upset my stomach, but would  leave a haunting reminder to always investigate the foods I put in my mouth for future reference. Well that "something" turned out to be a tiny insect (a gnat in other words) that was nestled in between one of my last remaining bites. It was baked into the pie somehow. Just by knowing this fact, I sadly, with much regreat could not finish to eat my "moment of happiness" on the plate. So I had to throw the remaining bites of this world greatest pie into the trash and take a step by in disgust.

But am I crazy? Would you have taken another bite with the chance of more of those creatures lurking in your next piece of pie hidden from your view? Well for yours truly, I like my sugary treats to be bug and insect free at all times. Well...I'm curious, what's your opinion? Would you continue to eat your meal, knowing a bug or insect had been lodged in your food, or even for a few seconds? Have you had a similar experience that may have left you traumatized or even worst, whenever you think back on that moment?
